PATIENT TESTIMONIAL
“ I had 2 implants and I have to say I’m very happy with them, with the appearance and they are comfortable in my mouth ”
Stage 1: Consultation
Purpose:
- Determine if an implant is the best solution for you.
- Discuss your dental history, health status, and specific needs.
What to Expect:
Comprehensive oral examination.
Discussion about your medical history andcurrent medications.
- Understanding your goals and expectations.
- Explanation of the implant procedure, benefits, and potential risks.
Stage 2: CBCT 3D X-Ray
Purpose:
- Obtain detailed images of your jawbone and surrounding structures.
- Plan the exact placement of the implant.
What to Expect:
- You will be asked to sit still while the CBCT machine rotates around your head.
This scan provides a 3D image of your jaw, allowing for precise planning and placement of the implant.
Stage 3: Implant/Graft Placement
Purpose:
- Place the implant into the jawbone or graft bone if necessary.
What to Expect:
- The area is numbed using local anaesthesia.
- A small incision is made in the gum to access the jawbone.
The implant is placed into the bone, and the gum is stitched closed.
If a bone graft is needed, it will be placed first to ensure there is enough bone to support the implant.
Stage 4: Healing Period
Purpose:
Allow the implant to integrate with the bone (osseointegration).
What to Expect:
This period typically lasts a few months.
Follow-up appointments to monitor healing.
Maintain good oral hygiene and follow your dentist’s care instructions.
Stage 5: Scan for Bespoke Crown/Bridge
Purpose:
- Create a precise model for your custom crown or bridge.
What to Expect:
Once the implant has healed, an impression or digital scan of your mouth is taken.
This model is used to design your bespoke crown or bridge, ensuring a perfect fit and natural appearance.
Stage 6: Final Fit and Completion
Purpose:
- Attach the crown or bridge to the implant and complete the treatment.
What to Expect:
The custom-made crown or bridge is checked for fit, colour, and comfort:
It is then securely attached to the implant.
Final adjustments are made to ensure your bite is perfect.
Aftercare:
- Follow the care instructions provided by your dentist.
- Regular dental check-ups to monitor the implant.
- Maintain good oral hygiene to ensure the longevity of your implant.

Frequently Asked Questions
What is an implant?
A dental implant is an ‘artificial tooth root’ made of titanium, which is highly biocompatible with the human body. Dental implants can be used to replace a single lost tooth or several missing teeth. Implant-supported replacement teeth look, feel, and function like natural teeth. They also preserve the integrity of the facial structure and reduce premature ageing. Dental implants are a well-established tooth replacement option with a long clinical history.
Who is a candidate for dental implants?
Anyone who is missing one or more teeth due to injury, disease, or decay may be a candidate for dental implants. Occasionally, older patients express concern that their age may prevent them from benefiting from dental implants. However, health is a more critical factor than age. If you are healthy enough to have a tooth extracted, you are probably healthy enough to receive dental implants.
Is there any pain or discomfort involved?
Most patients report very little discomfort and find they were much more comfortable following the procedure than they anticipated. We can even arrange for you to speak with another patient who has already undergone the experience.
How will I benefit from dental implants?
The benefits of implant treatment include improved appearance, enhanced ability to chew and enjoy food, and often the protection of your remaining teeth and jawbone. Additionally, it can boost self-esteem and social confidence. Sleep with your teeth, not next to them!
How long will the treatment take?
Treatment time varies depending on your particular situation. Nowadays, it is often possible to have a “same-day tooth/teeth” before receiving your final cosmetic teeth within a few months. In some cases, it may be necessary to wait longer before completing the restoration to achieve an optimal result.
Will I ever be without my teeth?
This depends on your situation. Most patients can leave the surgery wearing some type of temporary prosthesis. Using the latest implant designs, we can even provide fixed teeth on the same day as the surgery.
Can I spread the cost of the treatment?
There are many finance options available, from 12 months interest-free to longer 60-month terms where interest is applicable. If you tell us what you can afford per month, we can find the right plan for you.
How long do implants last?
Dental bridges supported by implants have been shown to last over 15 years in 90% of cases. We have every indication that they can last much longer. The key to long-term success is maintenance and regular dental and hygiene visits.
Is it important to take care of the implants after the treatment is completed?
Yes! Maintaining care of the implants will help ensure the long-term success of your treatment. It is essential that you have regular check-ups and visit the hygienist every 3-6 months.
